formerly on drums: that damned Benji

"The makeup of this band is
a male-female vocal duo over percussion and a quick-fingered guitar.
The band can churn up a good deal of screamy aggression when it
wants to–particularly Sean; Amy, the female vocalist, tends to layer
melodic vocals over Sean’s abrasive screams. The record’s opening
track, “Sea Saw(ng)”, introduces us to Evil Robot Us’ with this more
aggressive sound. The rest of the songs, though, shift between fast
noisy rock and a more relaxed, melodic mood that turns almost poppy
at times. In these more relaxed moments, the mood becomes
introspective, and seems almost to celebrate the complications of
life: “Everything was easier when I thought that I knew everything,”
Amy sings cheerfully. A few songs also include group vocals, which
expands on the celebratory tone of the music, and also adds an
inclusive element to the sound. It is this carefree, grassroots
sound that seems to be at the core of the band’s spirit; the
periodic addition of wooden percussion, and the use of lone, simple
melodies strengthen this quality."
